Youth Justice Residences
Springboard operates three open-custody and detention youth residences in Toronto and Sault Ste. Marie. Youth who are either awaiting trail (in custody) or have been sentenced (in detention) can be sent to these facilities as an alternative to a closed-custody facility (jail/prison). The youth in these facilities are those who are deemed as being low risk of trying to escape and who do not pose a danger to the community at large.
Youth in these facilities are under strict supervision and provided counselling on a daily basis. Those who have demonstrated good behaviour are provided certain privileges, such as the opportunity to go to community facilities, like the library, with an escort.
We operate two facilities for male youth in Toronto and one facility for female youth in Sault Ste. Marie.
